Kronos are a band from France that plays a very melodic and brutal form of death metal with a touch of black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Arisen New Era' which will be released in July by Unique Leader Records.
A very heavy and brutal sounding death metal sound starts off the album along with some growling vocals and some technical elements and the riffs also use a great amount of melody along with the faster sections utilizing a very heavy dose of blast beats and there is also a brief use of spoken word samples at times.
When guitar solos and leads a re utilized they are very dark and melodic and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the high pitched screams also add a touch of black metal into the bands musical style and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and some of the later tracks also bring in atmospheric elements at times. and as the album progresses a brief use of classical guitars can be heard.
Kronos plays a style of death metal that mixes in the more technical, brutal and melodic sides of the genre along with a touch of black metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Greek Mythology.
In my opinion Kronos are a very great sounding brutal death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Zeus Dethroned" "Rapture In Misery" "Brotherlords" and "Hellysium". 8 out of 10.
